Recipe Cards
Since February 2012, Botanical illustrator Debbie Devauden has been working with local primary schools to take part in a project designed to put their creative skills to the test. Pupils from Ysgol Gymraeg Treganna and Radnor Road Primary School have been busy drawing pictures of various fruit and vegetables, which will be used in a series of bilingual recipe cards.
Local adult art groups meeting at Canton Library and Seven Road Centre have also been working with Debbie on designs for the cards, using a range of materials including watercolours and oil pastels.
Recipes have then been gathered from local people using Facebook and Twitter, and these will be combined with the images to create the cards. In addition to these recipe cards being distributed, there will also be an exhibition of a selection of the work during the day. Another series of recipe cards designed by other local schools will be launched later on in the year.
The first set of recipe cards will be launched at ‘The Big Lunch’ event in the Chapter Community Garden on Sunday 3rd June, from 12 noon – 4pm.
We will be inviting everyone involved in the project, as well as funders, supporters and local councillors to come along to see an exhibition of the work, and to taste some of the recipes created. We will also be distributing the cards and will be entertained by storytellers and face painters.
